How do the adventures work?

We run “safari style” adventures. This means you have a guide in the front buggy and they will take you through each adventure and communicate with you via radios. Each guide is a knowledgable local with a flare for the history of this area.

Do I have to be able to drive a stick shift?

Well, yes and no. Earl is our automatic transmission buggy and all the others are manual. You can book Earl if he’s available otherwise keep in mind, buggies are so much fun to drive because they are a manual transmission and we offer “Buggy U”, which is a way to learn to drive with a stick shift. If you have never driven a stick shift car before, you must pass Buggy U before you can reserve a manual transmission buggy. Call our office to inquire about the Buggy U options…

Will I get dirty or dusty on this adventure?

Much of the fun of these buggies are that they don’t have a roof. They are open and that means some dust will be flying around or during some of the wetter times, there could be some mud. Nothing too drastic, but you’ll need to be prepared for a little earth to find you.

How many can fit in a 2 seater buggy?

Max of 2. We can fit another child in the back seat if they are not large (8 years old or younger is the general rule). Otherwise it’s best to book a 4 seater or two 2 seaters.

Do you offer discounts?

YES! When you book 2 buggies, there is a 10% discount on the second buggy. Add 3rd or 4th and get 15% off each of those!

Where does this adventure leave?

We leave just outside of Big Bear Lake. Once you reserve your adventure, you will receive an email with all the details on when and where to meet, but it’s about 5-10 minutes east of town.

Are the buggies fast?

While we have a couple of buggies that are slightly faster than the others, most of them are 36 hp buggies. We joke that they will do 0-60 in… A few hours – 🙂 They are not designed for speed as much as they are designed for fun and exploring.

Do you run these adventures all year long?

Except for ice, snow or super rainy days we run these adventures. During winter months you’ll need to wear warm clothes and a beanie or some sort of warm hat. During summer months it can get quite warm so you’ll need protection from the sun, like a hat, etc.

How old do you have to be to reserve an adventure?

You must be 21 years old or older and have a valid driver’s license to drive, but any age can ride along.

What about children?

This is as much of a kid adventure as it is anything.  We are street legal cars and are subject to car seat laws and seatbelt laws, just like any legal vehicle.

What if I want something more extreme style off-road adventure?

We recommend the Jeep Experience in Big Bear, if you are looking for something more extreme (bigbearjeepexperience.com).
